Nature based Activities to foster team building & bonding

Stormsriver Adventures uses a variety of quality products – including the famous Tsitsikamma Canopy Tour and Scavenger Challenge with its roots firmly planted in the Tsitsikamma. We offer you a variety of nature-focused Activities to foster Team Building & Bonding

Built around the unforgettable Eco-experiences of the Tsitsikamma – participating teams are given the space to learn by experience - to experience the power of the principle that “Working Together – Works”. It is widely acknowledged that experiential learning produces the highest level of understanding and the most effective application of that knowledge. You can pick and mix from a choice of high or low-impact activities. Packages can be adjusted to meet the needs and abilities within your organization or school.

All activities –physical and cognitive – are served with a large helping of professionalism and fun and offer freedom of choice and respect for the individual and the environment.

Accommodation options range from high-quality Backpackers/Budget and Self-catering accommodation to 3 and 4 Star Hotel/Guest Lodge Accommodation. Here you are surrounded by nature with many exciting outdoor adventure opportunities literally on your doorstep!

Tsitsikamma Canopy Tour

A first in Africa. Enjoy the unequaled beauty of the indigenous forest high up on ten treetop platforms. Gently glide along in a harness, on steel cables 30 meters above the forest floor. A "green" activity that is full of fun!!

Photographic Scavenger Hunt

The Tsitsikamma Team Challenge and Photographic Scavenger Hunt start with a sedate stroll with a local field guide through our tree-lined village. Your team is encouraged to open their eyes and ears and listen to the useful, useless (red herrings abound), interesting, and quirky information being shared with them...

Whilst savoring the sounds of village life, the smell of clean air, the sights of nature, the feel of friendship and camaraderie, and tasting the crystal waters of the Tsitsikamma.

The mayhem begins as Teams are given a Competitive and Fun Task List and a Time Limit to score the highest points. Teams are required to recall useful/interesting facts and faces (were you listening?) capture photographs of Team Members performing crazy and challenging tasks, engage with our village community, dancing in the streets, collect photos of our flora and fauna, and using the creative imagination of the inner child to combine talents and skills to earn maximum points. A competitive challenge – The judges' decision is final! The intensity of your Challenge event is up to you. We can adjust challenges to suit your needs, ambition, and ability.

Guided Hike - Woodcutters' Journey on Foot

A fully guided tour down the Plaatbos Nature Reserve Indigenous Forest Reserve with one of our Specialist Guides accompanying you in the lush green forest. It is an informative experience of history, forest ecology, and bird life.

Discover the secrets of the spectacular forest as you encounter Hard Pear trees, Giant Yellow Woods, ancient Tree Ferns, and other interesting Forest Flora. Discover how the forest lives and breathes; listen to the sounds of birds like the Knysna Loerie and Green Woophoes. Our guides will lead you on foot in the forest walking along giant indigenous trees including the Outeniqua Yellowwood. A favorite stop along the route is the “Human Face Tree” which is not manmade or has been struck by lightning. A unique artwork of nature!

The Tsitsikamma (previously known as Zitzikama) was first surveyed by the famous pass builder Thomas Bain in 1879.  Bain found impenetrable forests east of Plettenberg Bay with access made even tougher by deep gorges.  During the planning process of building a pass through the Storms River gorge, Bain followed the ancient elephant migratory routes down to the river and as elephants find the easiest way down, decided to build the pass along those routes.  Labour for this difficult task was provided by convicts and some of their graves can still be seen on the outskirts of the Village. The pass itself was completed in 1884 and until the N2 and Storms River Bridge was built in 1955 was the only way to get through the gorge.

Today the road is closed to traffic and can only be accessed on foot, by bicycle, or on Storms River Adventures’ Woodcutters Journey tour. This guided hike is a great way to explore, learn and experience a world of diversity in one forest.
