Adventure activities take place from the adventure centre in the scenic little
village of Stormsriver which is 75 km from Plettenberg Bay and 160 km from Port Elizabeth just off the N2. The area is malaria free!

Parks, Department of Water Affairs and forestry, M.T.O.

Stormsriver Adventures emerged as one of the largest new job creators in the Eco Adventure industry in South Africa. The organization has self funded the training of guides from the local community since 1998.
The Government's commitment to promote active labour market policies is well demonstrated in the
Skills Development Act, 1998 and the Skills Development Levies Act, 1999.
These two pieces of legislation introduce new institutions, programs and funding
policies designed to increase investment in skills development.
There are two over-riding priorities that this legislation seeks to address.
- The first ever-present reality of the global economy and the imperative to increase skills to improve productivity and competitiveness of industry, business, commerce and service.
- The second is to address the challenge of social development and the eradication of poverty.
Stormsriver Adventures has trained in excess of 500 Adventure Guides since 1998 and remains a major contributor to training in the Eco Adventure Industry.
An empowerment catering company, funded by Stormsriver Adventures is contracted to supply all catering requirements.

- Articles have appeared in Getaway Magazine; Style; Men's Health; You and Country Life; Huisgenoot and more recently National geographic have visited the operation.
- The New York Times have featured the company extensively.
- Regular articles have appeared in all the major South African newspapers.
- All major trade shows are attended.

- Environmental education excursions are conducted regularly and include 1600 children annually from the local communities.
- An Empowerment Catering Company setup by Stormsriver Adventures in 2003 supplies all catering requirements and has created 10 new positions for women.
- The company adopted the local Primary School and makes a significant contribution to the school feeding scheme by providing meals for 140 children.
- A Community Owned Craft Initiative and local crafts can be purchased from our small retail outlet. This major project is receiving support and assistance from Stormsriver Adventures.
- An extensive community animal welfare program has been initiated by Stormsriver Adventures servicing the local inhabitants of Stormsriver.
