Stormsriver Adventures has again excelled in the fourth "Fair Trade" audit re certification process achieving a 92% average score in the thirteen major categories assessed by the independent certification panel.
Ashley Wentworth, CEO stated that "We have consistently raised the bar year on year which made this re certification a challenge to improve upon 2007 when our average score was 89%."
The Fair Trade audit requires companies to meet stringent criteria across all facets of the operation and can be likened to a forensic audit.
The thirteen major categories include: Legal and General, Labour Standards, Human resource practice, Skills development, Employment equity, Ownership and Control, Procurement, Social Community Investment, Environment and Conservation, Health and Safety, Quality and Reliability, Workplace Culture and HIV Aids policies and approach.
Wentworth further stated: "This is not just a paper exercise but each and every staff member is involved with the assessor conducting random interviews to verify the facts."
All Stormsriver Adventures' staff is introduced to the fundamental principles of "Fair Trade" by way of an initial formalized course in sustainable tourism. The independent certification panel interrogates extensively the assessor's findings before re certification is granted.
Stormsriver Adventures once again also achieved a "Level one" BEE rating this month.
This means the company was audited as an excellent contributor to BEE at a 135% compliance.
Sera Pty Ltd. Conducted the verification process and are one of the registered agencies accredited to audit companies in accordance with the BBBEE Act,2003 (Act 53 of 2003).
A Level One is the highest level which a company can attain and bears testimony to Stormsriver Adventures' on going commitment to transformation within the tourism industry.
Stormsriver Adventures has received numerous responsible tourism awards over the past eleven years making a significant impact to the Tsitsikamma region.
