Appointment of the Board of Directors of Stormsriver Adventures Pty Ltd was announced last week by Ashley Wentworth, founder of the company. Wentworth stated that “since 1998 the company has driven transformation, and has achieved many milestones which include the recruitment, training and development of members of the communities and introducing them to the Eco-Adventure Industry.”
In excess of 500 Adventure Guides have been trained since 1998. Many have advanced and taken up senior positions locally and abroad, working in Dubai, Bahrain and Europe as Operations Managers!
“Our mission” stated Wentworth “is to provide a platform for members of our local communities, particularly previously unemployed youngsters, to enter and advance in the Industry as competent Adventure professionals who can compete anywhere in the world in their field.”
Further to this, Stormsriver Adventures has initiated, and is involved in a number of programmes within the communities. These include an empowerment Catering Company ‘Stormsriver Caterers’ which supplies all catering supplies to Stormsriver Adventures.
The School Feeding Programme, which supplies 3 meals per week to the children of Stormsriver West Primary School, has been sponsored by Stormsriver Adventures for the past four years.
An Animal Welfare Project involving the dipping, sterilization and education of the community members is funded by the Company.
Various Community Crafting Initiatives have also been sponsored by Stormsriver Adventures.
“Transformation must occur internally and externally which means that not only Employees benefit, but the Community at large benefits. We purchase goods and services locally, wherever possible, to stimulate the Micro-economy. For example, local Contractors, are used, which assists with S.M.M.E. development.”
